I found this in note 72460.1 on MetaLink: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Note: Moving the SYS.AUD$ table out of the SYSTEM tablespace is not supported because the Oracle code makes implicit assumptions about the data dictionary tables such as SYS.AUD$, which could cause problems with upgrades and backup/recovery scenarios. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----
In the old 7.3.4.4 database I had moved sys.aud$ to prevent it from filling up the SYSTEM tablespace, but now I am not sure this is still a good idea in 8i.
