it's more efficient to do the SQLNet call, wait for a response, send
the sql statement to the server, parse it, fetch the data and do a
SQLNet return to client?

Um, one of the main reasons to use stored programs is that THEY ARE
ALREADY COMPILED and execute on the server itself.

If you truly think this is done just to eliminate part of your job, you
are looking at this totally wrong.
