One easier way would be to use the export utility of 8.0.4 for exporting the
data of 8.1.6.

For example while sitting on 8.0.4 server,

Exp80 system@orcl816/manager full=y file=full816.dmp ..............

Of course you should have orcl816 conenct string defined in your
tnsnames.ora.

This generated export file can easily be imported without any problem.

We are having 2 NT servers, one with Oracle 8.04 and the other with Oracle
8.1.6. We need to export the data from Oracle 8.1.6.3 and import into
Oracle 8.0.4.3.1 but it said not a valid export file, header failed
verification.
