Earlier this week or last someone asked how to set the limit of an rman
backupset. I said it could be done when you create a channel, but in
researching this further I found a better way. Instead of limiting the
filesperset or setting the size for the channel you can simply put a
setsize=2000 in your backup command. E.g.:
backup
incremental level 1
# skip offline
# skip readonly
skip inaccessible
tag backup_dbname_level_1
# filesperset 4
setsize=2000
format '/dbback/l1_%sdbname_%p'
(database);
This will give backupsets of 2 gig each.
