Thanks Larry, Another reason for NOT using UDF (I have heard here, and I absolutely do not agree) is " ... well that means you must have a network trip to database and come back ..." What the person didn't realize that to avoid *this* network trip, he coded implicit SQL in 10 different places in a single form. And I almost asked them, "please tell me that your form is so optimized that a single extra call to DB will ruin the speed of the process" but I know when to keep my mouth shut ...
