Aleem,

   I think that your current arrangement is fine. Why don't you consider all the 
common information as an application in its own right, say 'REFERENCE'? And let 
application specific information into their own schema, it doesn't need to be a 
all-or-nothing affair. You can even create under each schema views on the REFERENCE 
tables to paper over the differences which will no doubt appear in time over the use 
of 'common' information.
