Hamid, What they mean by that is - assuming Unix here - set your ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME, and ORACLE_BASE to the database you want to connect to. Then just issue svrmgrl or sqlplus. When you connect, you are connecting to the database specified in your ORACLE_SID variable. The same goes for NT, but all you have to do there is at a command prompt set ORACLE_SID = blah and then connect using sqlplus or svrmgrl without a string and it will connect to the database you specified.
