If that new box is a sand box, I would just play to see if exp of 8i can be
imported in 9i.

I think you have to use only the 8i version on EXP and
IMP in this case, as 9i EXP cannot connect to 8i
database and 9i IMP cannot read 8i EXP dmp file.
