Robert - Excellent ideas! To bounce off your ideas, one thought is to find out what matters most to the users and create some statistics based on that. For example, one of our applications has a process that performs really badly during the peak season. Some fixes have been tried, but management doesn't want to expend the effort to fix it. However, the application does write statistics to a log, so I load those values into an Oracle table and report the results to the management. They feel it works as an indicator for many other factors. Basically a "canary in a coal mine".
