1. Who decided to add the processor?
2. How was it decided that a processor was needed? Who measured what, how
and for how long? And Why?
3. Are there other non-Oracle database applications running on this server?
May be that's why 'let us add a processor' thingy came about.
4. Have they increased the I/O capacity along with the CPUs? (Gaja's
favorite question)
5. If existing apps were not CPU-bound, this addition may adversely affect
Oracle Database performance.
(Cary Millsap's recent post about the 'Payroll process' comes to my
mind). Adding H/W when it is not THE bottleneck, is waste of time, money and
resources, (except for the Vendors :)

I have a Windoze server that has an instance of 8.0.5 Oracle running on it.
I just got an email from the network badmins that they are adding a
processor to this server today. Glad to be in the loop!!
This is a new experience for me. Is this something that may cause problems
when Oracle starts up with this new processor??

Thanks,

Dave
