1. Who decided to add the processor? 2. How was it decided that a processor was needed? Who measured what, how and for how long? And Why? 3. Are there other non-Oracle database applications running on this server? May be that's why 'let us add a processor' thingy came about. 4. Have they increased the I/O capacity along with the CPUs? (Gaja's favorite question) 5. If existing apps were not CPU-bound, this addition may adversely affect Oracle Database performance. (Cary Millsap's recent post about the 'Payroll process' comes to my mind). Adding H/W when it is not THE bottleneck, is waste of time, money and resources, (except for the Vendors :)
