doctors have to take more than a multiple choice test to be certified. getting certified might be hard work.. but I had a developer who decided he wanted to be a DBA so he went out and got his certification. He studied for the tests, took them and passed. Give my choice I wouldn't have allowed him to work on my development databases, let alone production. He knew NOTHING about being a DBA.
