alter system dump logfile <logfilename> <options> will let
you decode the contents of a redo logfile to a text file. Remember, by text
file, I do not mean it is a verbose text, but much more understandable compared
to the encoded redo log file.
Please make sure that background_dump_dest points to a directory that has
enough space available, I have seen examples of a 5MB redo file creating a trace
file about 5 times it size. You may also need to set max_dump_file_size
appropriately (to unlimited).
I read all this information in an article written by Graham Thornton
date 9/26/2000.

Subject: How to read REDO logCan I setup LogMiner to read REDO log of Oracle8.0.5? Someone tells me LogMiner only works for Oracle8.1 or above, is it correct? Is there another tool to read REDO log besides LogMiner? Thanks,
David
