Hi John,

all logical volumes exist as raw devices but you usually then create a
filesystem on them. If you create a logical volume called lv_raw for
example, the raw device will be /dev/rlv_raw. So in oracle to use a raw
device you just use datafile='/dev/rlv_raw', easy. Just not so easy to back
up, unless you use rman!

Where can I find info on this?

The documentation refers me to the "Oracle 8i Administrators refence for
AIX" but I cannot find it on-line
