Thank you all for your interest. 1 - I did not get any error message. 2 - I do not have an index named index_1 in the USER1 schema. 3 - Oracle stops means oracle crashes without an error. It gets stuck. It waits forever and no other user(s) may connect to it. 4 - Oracle version Oracle 8i 5 - OS is windows 2000 Server
