There's the venerable and seminal 'Introduction to Database Systems' by C.J. Date

This must be the most quotable technical book I have ever read. Favorite quote (paraphrased): "There is a need for data modelers because developers are so bad at designing files and databases." http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0070646155/qid=1026256717/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_7/102-9448226-0827333 nuff said. Richard Barker's "Case*Method: Entity Relationship Modellin" is on many a DBA shelf, mostly because Oracle used to include it with their modeling class. Maybe they still do. A good book, nonetheless. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201416964/qid=1026256931/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-9448226-0827333 HTH, Jared "Stahlke, Mark" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 07/09/2002 01:47 PM Please respond to ORACLE-L To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> cc: Subject: Looking for a few good... .books on relational theory and database design.
