Goddess: The conclusions are correct. The OS must be configured to properly handle the 64-bit architecture, thus, large files. The 32-bit limitation on 2GB files is still imposed unless this occurs. Although Oracle can accommodate > 2GB files, you must have the OS handle the "outside Oracle" work.
