Yes, Melissa also mentioned this to me.  I will have to look into that function...along with the million other procedures and functions that Oracle has.  At this point, Tom's suggestion seems to be the simpliest/effective/fastest.  Any other suggestions?

you could also use dbms_utility.get_hash_value ... to compute hash value for the whole row and store that as an additional column. Be syre to use the same parameters on both sides to compute and test, else it will fail the check.
