No issues... Just define a strategy on how you want to implement things of this nature. We have multiple database servers running multiple versions of Oracle. We have Enterprise servers running 7.3.4 thru 9.2 on the same box. But build a plan/strategy.. and stick to it to remove the "emotions"
Our is encompassing statement is: Each database on a server will maintain it's own copy of the Oracle binaries. Yes-there is some redundant copies of the binaries that equates to wasted disk space. But this fits in with the overall strategy of the Enterprise DB servers within the environment... So for example-part of the strategy requires each install/database has it's "own" file system. Another requirement would be the ability to totally separate any dependencies between the Oracle/DB environments. There are several other details as part of the strategy-but not to bore the list with those... The caveat that we have ran into is the kernel parameters need to be set accordingly to handle the necessary semaphore/shared memory requirements (As well as open file descriptors...) Overall-it can work fine as long as you have a strategy/plan....
