I have never tried it but I think you can basically do whatever you want
with an extproc and the system() C call. A long time ago, with Oracle 6
I think, (before extproc were available) I wrote a daemon under VMS
which was waiting on a DBMS_PIPE, getting commands, appending
/OUTPUT=something (OK VMS-lovers, Unix pipes are a great thing ...),
calling system(), reading the something file and shovelling the result
back the DBMS_PIPE. Simpler of course with an external procedure. It was
funny to issue VMS commands from client PC. If you can do it with DCL,
there is no reason why you couldn't with JCL.
