We were testing a small script that calls DBMS_APPLICATION to set the module and action. Most of the time we did not see the results in V$SESSION. We added a dbms_lock.sleep to make the script run a little longer.
What was happening was BOTH SQL*PLus and TOAD seem to update the program (and DBMS_APPLICATION info). Immediate after the SQL script terminated, the information at V$SESSION had been reset to what it was before the script was called. .... interesting, no ?
