Dear List,
Apologies in advance for the long message, but the error messages are no
doubt significant to the problem.
As part of our testing procedures we kill SQL scripts (anonymous PL/SQL
blocks normally) during execution using the following:
SQL> alter system kill session '18,44329';
System altered.
Recently, however SQL*Plus is core dumping rather than politely reporting
session killed. The error given to screen is (The SP2-0642 message appears
hundreds of times, here are the last two):
SP2-0642: SQL*Plus internal error state 2167, context 4294967294:2:0
Unable to proceed
SP2-0642: SQL*Plus internal error state 2167, context 4294967294:2:0
Unable to proceed
Segmentation Fault(coredump)
$
The script is also being spooled to a file, which shows:
ERROR:
ORA-01012: not logged on
ERROR:
ORA-01012: not logged on
SP2-0359: memory exhausted
Error accessing package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO
ERROR:
ORA-01012: not logged on
SP2-0359: memory exhausted
SP2-0359: memory exhausted
The all important version numbers are (all running on Solaris - both
database and SQL*Plus) :
SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Tue Jan 7 11:46:35 2003
(c) Copyright 2000 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
Has anyone experienced SQL*Plus core dumping like this? Any advice would
be welcomed.
Thanks,
Mark.
