Archivelogs can be verified for corruption using a standby database (a.k.a. Data Guard), Log Miner, or the undocumented "ALTER SYSTEM DUMP LOGFILE logfile-name" command, but why bother? It takes far more effort to implement one of these mechanisms (except standby) for every single archivelog generated than to simply do backups in RMAN...
