Hi:
We have oracle 8173 running on Sun. Cuurently we are running
DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS on each table after schema import (the dump
file was generated with STATISTICS =NONE). I am trying to see if I can save
some time by importing statistics directly (so we don't have to run
DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS. But I don't want to just let imp run
"analyze" command during the import. Is it possible?
It seems I can accomplish this by
run exp with STATISTICS = COMPUTE:
run Imp with
RECALCULATE_STATISTICS = Y
ANALYZE = N
Anyone has done this? Thanks.

here is From Oracle Doc:
---------
Importing Statistics
If statistics are requested at Export time and analyzer statistics are
available for a table, Export will place the ANALYZE command to recalculate
the statistics for the table into the dump file. In certain circumstances,
Export will also write the precalculated optimizer statistics for tables,
indexes, and columns to the dump file. See also the description of the
Export parameter STATISTICS and the Import parameter RECALCULATE_STATISTICS.
Because of the time it takes to perform an ANALYZE statement, it is usually
preferable for Import to use the precalculated optimizer statistics for a
table (and its indexes and columns) rather than executing the ANALYZE
statement saved by Export.
