I’ve been reading the 9iR2 docs on partitioning, along with Tom Kyte’s excellent chapter on the subject.  It seems that a Global index or unique, local indexes could be used effectively in an OLTP system, but both have their caveats.

This is a hybrid system- it’s part OLTP but is also used quite a bit for reporting.  Would anyone out there care to share your good or bad experiences with these indexes on partitioned tables in such a system?

Best regards,
