Andrea On the difference between Unix and Linux, here is how I understand it:
All UNIX versions are derived from an AT&T code base (not sure who owns it now). All Unix vendors must pay a small royalty back to the code owners. Linux was developed independently by many developers (not just Linus, but he has been a good publicity focus) as a freeware code base independent of Unix, but identical to Unix in function. The following link explains it all: http://ragib.hypermart.net/linux/ Dennis Williams DBA, 40%OCP, 100% DBA Lifetouch, Inc. Pls send me the links. Much appreciated. Also is Linux pretty similar to Unix. What's the major difference? Thank you in advance!
