Les,
If you think that's bad, wait until you have to read the online docs end to
end before using the database. The ANSI SQL standard is about 2000 pages
before you can even write a query. I suspect you won't need to read the
entire install docs - I guess it all depends on what type of installation
you are after.
Unfortunately I don't know of any sights to help you seriously though.

I've been trying to *prepare* my sol box to install Oracle.......
The freakin' install guide is 202 pages long...Is there an easier method to
install oracle than reading 200+ pages? Anyone know any good tutorials or
websites where I can get some newbie info on installing oracle?
