dist cash, The same restriction still exists for 9iR2, for regular Standby Databases (a.k.a DataGuard). However, in Oracle 9iR2, you could set up Logical Standby database, which can be in a separate name. But then again, logical standby is not really along the same lines the regular standby (in 8i and 9i) is.
