Jay,

One thing to consider is that just starting the 9i track and if you've not taken any
OCP exams prior to September of 2002, there is a requirement to attend one 9i training
class in addition to the exams. However (you'll probably need to call Oracle to get a
solid answer to this), if you can still take the 8i track with no classroom training
and then take the 9i upgrade exam (if they allow this with no classroom training),
this would be your least expensive route since the classes are quite expensive. The
down side is a total of six exams instead of just four.
If your company is willing to send you to one of the 9i classes, I would take
advantage of that and just go for the 9i track.

Good luck!
Darrell

Dear All,

I plan to take up Oracle Certification (DBA) very soon. Iam quite confused
about the
tracks and the exams. Is it better to pass OCP 8i and then upgrade to 9i
or go
straight for the 9i OCP DBA title, with regard to the complexities of the
exam.

Thanks in advance for all your help and guidance which would be really
helpful.

Best Regards
Jai
