Mike
You asked the question I've been entertaining, so I was hoping you would
get some good replies. From the previous postings on this subject, here are
my conclusions:

1. Not a lot of sites are using LDAP with Oracle yet. If you have a method
that works satisfactorily, you may not change immediately, especially if you
don't perceive much immediate advantage over Oracle Names, for example.

2. If you read the Oracle documentation and don't know much about LDAP, you
may assume you need to configure Oracle's LDAP and then try to keep it and
AD synchronized. As I've learned more about LDAP, I believe you have phrased
the question more correctly.

3. Getting Oracle's LDAP working seems to be easy enough, and some people
have posted their success on this list.

4. When you want to get Microsoft-anything working with Oracle-anything, you
seem to fall into a black hole of no documentation. I don't think either
behemoth wants to acknowledge the other's existence.

Anyway, that is as much as I've figured out. I don't know if you need a
connector or if it is just a matter of figuring out how to point Oracle to
the AD LDAP interface (and I'm told AD does have one) and then figure out
what information Oracle expects to find in the LDAP. I think the main
impediment to LDAP at this time is a lack of understanding, which manifests
itself in the form of asking the wrong questions. Hopefully someone more
knowledgeable in LDAP will post.
