Can't you specify CONNECT_TIME/IDLE_TIME in a PROFILE and assign that PROFILE to the user

I tried modifying the SQLNET.ORA in the database server by having the parameter sqlnet.expire_time = 20. Still it doesn't seem to be working. Can I use the logon_time from v$session and explicity kill the session ? Is there any other work around?
