AK,

I think this is because of your hot backup script. You
might be encounting these messages while using "Alter
system archive log current" from your RMAN script
(match the timings and see). 
>From your messages, you might be on 8.x. 9.x has
"better" messages :
ARC1: Unable to archive log# 2 thrd# 1 seq# 24 
Log actively being archived by another process 

.though it means the same. It is just informational.
Ignore them or Do not use alter system archive log
current in RMAN.
