I am still curious to see when linux will make it on the desktop, despite the hype now we know that Red Hat is dropping that initiative.

As far as I'm concerned, it has already made it. It's my primary desktop at work,with windows for those pesky apps that only run there. I guess I just like a more robust, unix-like os when I have to work on other unix systems all day. ;).
The free version of redhat is now called the fedora project. This will continue to be the experimental/desktop version that is along the same line as redhat 8 & 9
