Maybe not so much an undocumented feature than documentation that is open to interpretation. It is documented that the optimizer will ignore malformed hints. It is just not made clear that everything after that malformed hint up to the end of the comment is ignored as well.

BTW, you mis-spelled "miss-spelled" :-)
