Larry Ellison has publicly stated that his goal is to produce a database with less then 100 tunable parameters. Allegedly, he came rather close with 10g.
Aaargh, that's why LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n gets so many options that documentation of one parameter takes 56 pages!
The more options, the lesser parameters! or is it the other way around?
