Burn any source that talks about hit ratio's. What exactly is running slow in your system and at what times ? Talk directly to the user that is experiencing the slowdown and ask them to repeat the behavior. Set a 10046 trace and go find the slowdown while the user is executing the application. Use the wait interface to determine what the culprit is. Lots of good books out on this stuff now.
