Title: Backing out of 9.2.0.4 upgrade

We are about to upgrade from Oracle 9.2.0.3 to 9.2.0.4.

Our applications have been tested on a 9204 test database without any problem

However, it would be nice to have a contingency plan in case we get problems after the upgrade. Obviously, a back up will be made before the migration and we have separate Oracle Homes for 9203 and 9204.

But what happens if things go badly wrong after one or two days worth of transactions have been added? One application may have fail and cause the whole database to go back to 9203.

After contacting Oracle support they say the only way back from 9204 to 9203 without losing the transactions after the upgrade is by using export from the 9204 database and then an import into the 9203 database. This would take a long time for the database size (120GB).

Is there another way to revert back from 9204 to 9203? Is they something that Oracle support are not telling us?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
