To add to what Michael wrote please visit here: http://www.oracle.com Go to the downloads page then download a recent version of Oracle as well as the development tools that are available. Reading books and taking tests are fine but they do nothing to prepare you for the real world. Actually using the database and the developer tools will go a long way in preparing you for performing productive work in an 'real' job. Knowing how the tools function by sitting down and using them is the best experience you can give yourself. When you have a good working knowledge of the tools then it will be time to consider taking the certification exams.
