*Summary of Responsibilities*

This position will provide technical support for the ERCOT web application
suite and related interfaces; work as a member of the technical support team
to process changes, fixes and requests; minimize the risk to the stability
of the application when processing changes; and review, test and implement
new application related tools or utilities as appropriate to meet business
requirements and continuously improve performance.

*Essential Job Functions*



This person will:

·         Meet deadlines, be quality minded, work independently under the
direction of the lead

   - Support and maintain the ERCOT web application suite
   - Own operations of the applications toolset
   - Communicate status to team on a regular basis regarding problems and
   issues in Production, so they can be communicated to the Business Area
   - Coordinate with other teams and peers to ensure that the system runs
   and interfaces smoothly**


   - Resolve issues in a timely manner
   - Maintain flexibility in response to requests
   - Understand how the applications support business processes and apply
   this knowledge to solve defined business problems
   - Collaborate with other application and technical resources when
   resolving a problem or implementing a system change
   - Analyze current application process and recommend improvements
   - Participate in review of high-level design
   - Provide on-call support outside business hours as needed

·         Develop and sustain a high level understanding of the competitive
energy markets

·         Increase and maintain proficiency on operational methodologies and
concepts

   - Update/Maintain required systems documentation, following the
   documentation standards where applicable
   - Identify and act upon functional and technical design and system
   architecture improvements
   - Participate in systems migration planning and execution
   - Identify and act upon functional and technical design and system
   architecture improvements
   - Prioritize work to ensure that team objectives are satisfied
   - Update team policies, processes, and workflows for submission to the
   Production Services Manager

*Experience and Educational Requirements*

·         BA/BS in Computer Science or technical training. (An equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.)

·         Minimum 5-7 years related work experience

·         Minimum 3-5 years experience in relevant computer applications /
processes:

o        SQL – PL, Transact

o        Web application production support

o        Apache / Tomcat / IIS

o        Siteminder

o        J2EE

o        JRUN

o        JBoss

o        JAVA

o        SunOne LDAP/IDM

o        Cold Fusion

o        Oracle, SQL

o        XML

o        MS Office

o        Reporting tools

o        Windows – 2000, 2003

o        Unix – AIX

o        Linux (Red Hat Enterprise)

o        Solaris

o        24/7 On-call Support



·         Experience in the following applications is a plus:

o        Cognos

o        Siebel

o        AppWorx

o        Lodestar

o        EDI

o        Inovis

o        TIBCO
