*Description:*

The Division of Information Resource Management (DIRM) is seeking a short
term (approx 6 month) contractor to perform system improvements and
enhancements for DHHS IT applications assigned to DIRM''s Common
Applications Management Unit. The selected candidate will support the
following business areas of the NC Department of Health and Human Services:
Division of Social Services, Division of Child Development, Division of
Aging and Adult Services, Division of Public Health, Division of Medical
Assistance, and the Division of Social Services.

*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:*

* *

*Required Skill Sets:*
• Minimum (6-7) yrs *experience supporting & enhancing large database
environments*
• Minimum (4) yrs *experience analyst/programming exp, preferably with
large, complex automation implementation efforts, including data warehousing
implementation & support.*
• Experience *mapping data from source system – destination*
• Experience: *Java/JSP and ASP for Business Objects - Windows Server
Administration - developing Web applications using ASP 2.0, ASP.NET, HTML,
Visual Basic 6.0, COM/DCOM under SQL Server 7
*• *SDK development & support of the auxiliary web applications*
• Expertise in: *SQL Server 2000/2005 admin. & development – Coding -
execution of shell scripts on a Unix platform - Windows scripting &
Extraction Transformation Load (ETL) processes - network administration -
troubleshooting including Firewall/VPN configuration/troubleshooting
knowledge.
• Experience: business process analysis, component-based development &
database design, developing detailed program specs, coding, testing &
troubleshooting.
• DBA experience (warehousing related projects)
• Demonstrated knowledge & exp with project mgmt methodologies*

*Preferred:
• Experience: UNIX schedulers & entity/version control software
• Experience using: Microsoft SourceSafe version control & Crontab scheduler
software - Business Objects XI Tool Suite including, Security, Universe
Development, Web intelligence Web tools
• Demonstrated technical expertise with (e.g. Sybase IQ, SAS, Business
Objects, UNIX, MVS).*

*Major responsibilities include:*
• Performance and system improvements/enhancements to assigned
applications/systems
• Supporting and enhancing large database environments such as the
Departments Client Services Data Warehouse, database management, etc.

*Ability to perform database mgmt activities including, but not limited to:*
• Definition of data requirements
• Data modeling, design &modification,
• Scrubbing, data definition
• Metadata index & table creation/maintenance
• Stored procedure development
• Forecasting data growth/capacity growth
• Scheduling, creation & execution of backup & recovery processes
• Performance monitoring & tuning
• Data conversion.
• Technical database consultant to CAM section
• Perform & monitor technical activities for adherence to schedules,
milestone & deliverables.
