The selected report and analysis tool set for primary use with the new warehouse is SAP Business Objects To assure proper design and implementation of the tool set the UCOP DSS team will contract a senior Business Objects Administrator. Under the direction of the Decision Support Systems Manager and in collaboration with the IR&C Infrastructure and Application management and UCOP business partners the Business Objects Administrator will consult on the design and implementation of the Business Objects Enterprise Server, Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence and Xcelsius. This includes the managing, securing, scheduling and publishing Enterprise Server Content. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, administration and performance tuning Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence Universes and Xcelsius Dashboards. This includes security, scheduling, publishing and metadata management. This position requires demonstrated technical skills combined with in-depth analytical and system management skills and specific expertise in Business Objects implementation and management. The incumbent will possess a thorough understanding of the use of business intelligence tools in aid of presentation and analysis of data. *Business Objects Administrator (50%)* Work includes planning, oversight and leading all activities related to implementation and management of the Business Objects Enterprise Server. Under the direction of the Decision Support Systems Manager provide oversight and technical leadership and guidance for the Business Objects Enterprise Server implementation and management: Plan, design and oversee the implementation and/or upgrades of the Business Objects Enterprise Server. Establish security, publication, scheduling and metadata standards. Organize knowledge transfers for technical staff and business users as necessary, to administer the Business Objects Enterprise Server. Drive data standardization, data integrity and quality. Provide hands-on expert technical support in development, build out and maintenance of the enterprise. This includes conceptual design, capacity planning, metadata acquisition, management and presentation. Develop testing and other quality assurance procedures Provide the IT DSS Manager with status and progress reports on development and maintenance activities as required. *Business Objects Developer (50%)* Defines and documents the report/universe technical specifications based on the business analytical requirements including the physical components and their functionality. Establishes, socializes and enforces standards, guidelines, policies, best practices, architecture patterns and frameworks for the enterprise report development. Works with business partners and IR&C functional areas in technical analysis, design, development, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of enterprise reporting systems. Builds, tests, implements and maintains Crystal Reports, Webi Universes and Xcelsius Dashboards as specified. This includes security, publishing, scheduling and metadata management. *Proposed Job Requirements Job Requirements* Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work on cross-functional teams and foster the team’s commitment to tasks Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and complex business concepts in technical terms Self motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision and able to work well with stakeholders and project staff Minimum 3 years experience with administering and delivering complex solutions with Business Objects Enterprise Server. Extensive experience in developing Webi Universes including aggregate awareness and metadata management. Advanced Crystal Reports developer with Cross Tab and sub report experience. Experience with setting up users, groups and security administration. Experience with performance tuning. Experience with report scheduling and distribution management. Experience with capacity planning, hardware requirements and backup strategies. Familiarity with Xcelsius Dashboard Reporting.
