Data Services Business Systems Analyst
Description:
The Data Services team needs a business systems analyst to conduct analysis
and to gather & document requirements to provide & support data movement and
data warehouse services. The BSA is an integral part of the project team and
will be involved in the following activities:
. Initial Project Analysis
. Requirements Elicitation
. Creation and Documentation of Requirements
. Requirements Reviews
. Ongoing support to project team after project definition phase
Responsibilities:
. Meet with customers & SMEs to determine level of efforts and scope of work
. Analyze project impacts and identify gaps
. Identify upstream and downstream dependencies
. Provide estimates for requirements work
. Determine requirements gathering approach
. Conduct requirements sessions with customers and SMEs
. Create business, system, data and non-functional requirements
. Understand and incorporate Capital One standards into requirements
. Document requirements in approved repository
. Complete full requirements traceability
. Conduct informal & formal requirements reviews
. Answer questions, research issues and support project team
. Attend design and test reviews
Skills:
. Ability to process new information quickly and merge disparate pieces of
information into clear, concise requirements
. Excellent oral and written communication is critical - must be able to
bridge gaps between business customers and technical resources
. Ability to digest information accurately and ask good follow up questions
. Good technical background with ability to find information and have a good
understanding of data and IT processes.
. Ability to estimate level of effort accurately for requirements work
. Ability to network and develop contacts that will provide valuable
information for future projects
. Willingness to learn and take initiative to develop technical skills to
aid in analysis
. Takes ownership and responsibility for requirements and contributes
positively to the team
. Technical knowledge of file formats and file transfers
. Extensive data knowledge and experience with data movement is a plus
