Position Description: Acts as a lead in providing expert technical support
and consultation for operating systems or subsystems. Conducts and
coordinates the analysis, planning, and implementation of systems software
and/or hardware. Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, debugs, maintains,
modifies, and documents operating systems. Defines systems software and/or
hardware requirements and determines system specifications and/or
customizations. Coordinates the design of subsystems and integration of
total systems. Identifies and resolves highly complex problems. Provides
direction and/or guidance to less experienced staff.
Minimum Experience: 4 yr degree plus 7-10 yrs exp
The SAN Engineer is responsible for the review, expansion, installation,
implementation, and expansion of a fast-growing, complex storage area
network environment in a enterprise level, high availability data center.
This position is part of a storage team that works closely with other
engineering teams to provide technical support for all storage
management-related activities. This will include data center expansions,
consolidations and remediation's. This individual may also act as a liaison
to other departments, representing the storage team on all technical matters
related to storage management. Regular in-flight progress reports will be
mandatory along with interfacing with several different technical
disciplines' management teams.
This position requires an extensive background in SAN management, with a
demonstrated ability to implement solutions, manage change, and provision
storage in a large-scale, mission-critical, multi-TB storage environment.
A background in various backup solutions and architectures will also be key
in this position.
Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills are necessary.
A strong background in designing, implementing, and supporting disk-, tape-
and virtual tape-based storage infrastructures is required.
