SAPTAS Interface Technical Design/Developer
SUMMARY
The individual will be dedicated to working on an SAP ERP upgrade project,
with a focus on interfacing with other non-SAP systems. Consulting services
are to be provided for the Technical Design Specification, Programming and
Quality Assurance of the development of an efficient IT integration solution
of ExxonMobil's(EM) Terminal Automation Systems (TAS) in USA and Canada to
its Global ERP solution.
Working as a member of a globally distributed team, a high degree of working
hour flexibility along with time-zone awareness and consideration for
cultural differences is required.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE WORK GROUP
ExxonMobil's(EM) SAP Programming Services (SPS) team provides custom SAP
development (ABAP, Java) and support for SAP instances used by ExxonMobil
users worldwide.
The ERP upgrade project is tasked to upgrade, to SAP's ECC6 platform, an SAP
instance used by ExxonMobil in the Americas.

January 2010
Work Arrangements
Work is to be done in a team, under the guidance of an Interface Coordinator
(based in the Americas).
Stakeholders are in several locations.
* Design and coordination will be from Houston, Fairfax, Toronto and
Paris.
* Development likely being done in Budapest Hungary, Curitiba Brazil
or Bangkok Thailand+ possibly India off-shore.
The preferred arrangements, at least through HLD / DR Design in 1st half of
2010 is:
* Either work from Toronto or Fairfax as 'home base' about 1/3 of the
time and travel
* Travel to other stakeholder locations about another 1/3 of the time
(Domestic US and Intercontinental).
* Work from the consultant's normal base city otherwise - in EM
offices if available.
or
* Work from the consultants normal home base city with a time-shifted
work day most days to allow at least a 1/2 day overlap with Europe Process
contacts in CET (e.g. 5:00 to 14:00 MT in NA).
* Expect to travel up to 2/3 of the time to stakeholder or EM
locations (Domestic US and Intercontinental)
Contracting will be done via one of the ExxonMobil ERP Bid winning
companies. The terms and conditions therein will apply (including but not
limited to "Drug & Alcohol usage"; Background checks; Cellular Phone Use
while Driving; Invoicing; Expenses; Confidentiality)
Travel time and cost from contractor's home location to the agreed primary
EM 'home base' location is not billable to EM.
Travel to other EM work locations, at EM's request, is billable to EM.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Must Have Soft Skill Requirements
* Must speak, read and write English fluently
* Able to articulate technical issues to a non-technical audience
* Able to solicit requirements from business end users and translate
these into technical design specifications for developers
* Technical Analysis & Problem solving skills
* Able to be productive when working asynchronously remotely with
colleagues located around the globe
* Critical Path Task analysis & (re) Prioritization
Must Have Professional Skill Requirements
* Expert level knowledge of SAP configuration and program development
in SAP product movement related functionality, including: customer and
material master data; orders / shipments / load confirmations / stock
transfers / goods issues & receipts; IS-OIL SAP extensions (e.g. TD
processing).
* Working knowledge of SAP Technology - expected to understand the
end-to-end technical SAP solution including impact to support teams (Basis,
Batch).
* Expert level client server level design and development capability
in MS-SQL Server based applications.
* Experience in the design and development of SAP-XI based interfaces
(SAP-XI is a good option for these interfaces)
* Oil industry system applications experience. Prior experience with
large-scale, global SAP installations
Nice to Have requirements
* Working knowledge of security and controls requirements and SAP
operational procedures.
* Prior experience with multiple R/3 implementation types (FI-CO, MM,
PS, HR, CRM, BW implementations)
* Prior experience developing on SAP Platform
