Position: LINUX Engineer with Cassandra experience Duration: 12 month long contract (maybe longer) Location:Richfield, MN Project Description: This position will initially work on an initiative called Advanced Sourcing that is new functionality for Order Management System (OMS). Advanced Sourcing will implement Cassandra (C*) as a key component (99.99% uptime) for the OMS platform that will enhance product sourcing. Additional C* platforms will be included in the future scope of this position. ***We are looking for a talented Linux Engineer that will engineer and deliver Cassandra platforms. This is a very critical role and will help the client continue to advance IT that leverages NoSQL platforms. *** Key position responsibilities include: -Lead the design of a large scale Cassandra deployment for a critical application -Implement a large scale Cassandra deployment on RHEL 6.X leveraging a virtualized (KVM) or bare metal deployment -Implement the Cassandra platform leveraging infrastructure automation via Puppet -Participate in daily sprint meetings and provide updates to assigned tasks -Interact with Best Buy and outsourced development, application operations, and infrastructure operations teams -Assist in tuning the Cassandra platform -Operationalize the Cassandra platform by transitioning knowledge to a service provider -Provide Level Three problem escalation, support, and troubleshooting -Create and maintain technical documentation – operational run book, standards, and supporting documentation -Ensure compliance of all solutions to established security guidelines, approved standards, and approved company policies A normal day will consist of a meeting to cover status and to perform and review design. The majority of the day will be spent in a collaborative environment but require hands on delivery of the functionality required for the platform. The ideal candidates will possess: -10 plus years’ experience Linux engineering experience (preferably RHEL 5.X and later) -3 years Linux virtualization experience (preferably KVM and RHEV) -Experience with large scale distributed systems -1 -2 years hands on experience working with at least one major NoSQL data platform (preferably Cassandra) -Hands on experience with infrastructure automation and at least one scripting language (preferably Puppet) -Able to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools Basic Requirements: -10 or more years of experience working with Linux and IT systems -3 or more years of experience working with Linux virtualization and bare metal deployments -3 or more years of experience with scripting -1 or more years of experience implementing and supporting NoSQL data platforms -Broad knowledge of common applications and technologies in Internet computing (web servers, proxies, load balancers, databases, appliances, client/server, etc.) -Hands-on experience designing and implementing Linux/Unix server technology solutions of moderate to extreme complexity Eagerly waiting for your reply Regards, Daniel Hoffman | Staffing Manager | |Panzer Solutions LLC. | | Fax: 203-286-1457 | Notice of Confidentiality: The information contained herein is intended only for the confidential use of the recipient.
