Job Description:
TITLE:Hadoop Database Administrator
Bloomington, Illinois.
6 months
Only USC/GC
Responsibilities:
- Guide business partners/projects on the use of Hadoop for efforts
ranging from proof-of-concepts to more-formal implementation efforts
- Design or select an appropriate environment for specific use case
- Understand and convey capacity and functional needs to appropriate
support teams/analysts
- Implement or make provisions for needed tools to work with or enable
the Hadoop ecosystem
- Support governance and security concepts/policy/process
- Administration and support of Hadoop
- Implement, integrate, and support the infrastructure with technical
applications and related vendor software/hardware
- Develop, follow, and/or implement infrastructure policies, strategies,
guidelines, standards, and procedures
- Interface with business partners to drive out requirements
- Research, evaluate, design, develop, or recommend integrated technical
solutions
Required Skills and Experience:
- Hadoop - expert level
- Hortonworks and Cloudera distributions
- Extensive Linux System Administration experience a must
- Proficient with Java development
- Knowledge and experience of HDFS, Hive, Flume, Sqoop, Directory
Structure design/creation
- Data movement processes – design and development
Desired Skills and Experience:
Strong SQL Access/DB2 knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and enable/train other
analysts
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment on
moderate to highly complex issues
High technical aptitude and demonstrated progression of technical
skills - continuous improvement
Ability to automate software/application installations and
configurations hosted on Linux servers
Relational databases expertise
JCL/Batch processing knowledge
StoredProc - SQLPL builds
Network and system administration experience, preferably in
large-scale data center environments
Experience with Cloud based computing infrastructure and tools
