Title: Cassandra Admin/Support Analyst

Location: Cincinnati OH

Duration : 1 year


Position Summary:

The primary focus of this position is operational support for Middleware
Services DataStax Cassandra team.  This role is responsible for the design,
development, installation and performance of our Datastax/Cassandra
environments. Experience with DataStax utilizing Cassandra and Apache Solr,
Spring framework, Git/Stash,  Gradle, IntelliJ required.   The successful
candidate will be part of a team responsible for architecting, installing
and supporting highly performant and scalable DataStax Cassandra rings
(databases) for eCommerce, Internet facing applications.  Strong analytical
and troubleshoot skillset required.  Ability to work within a cross
functional team environment required.  Ability to self-prioritize workload
and manage deadlines effectively required.  Strong communication skills,
both written and verbal required.  Exposure to Agile development processes
a strong plus, but not required.


Essential Job Functions:

·         Provide guidance to Ecommerce development teams on Middleware
technology systems and services in an effort to improve performance and
reliability of new applications and new application features.

·         Experience working in a NoSql environments such as
Cassandra/Mongo/CouchBase

·         Strong technical knowledge of DataStax utilizing Cassandra and
Apache Solr

·         Expertise in building low latency/high throughput data management
components to handle large volume of transactions

·         Spark and Hadoop experience a plus

·         Experience with Cassandra Data Modeling a plus

·         Expertise in operating distributed database applications

·         Experience with installation and configuration of Tomcat and
WebSphere Liberty

·         Experience setting up and supporting HA environments consisting
of multiple front-end and backend services

·         Ability to configure Apache mod_proxy or NGINX requiring backend
proxy capabilities

·         Linux experience with a slight preference for Red Hat

·         Must be willing to provide off-hours support (24 x 7) on a
rotational basis

·         Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to analyze and correct
issues in distributed n-tier environments

·         Familiarity with Agile SDLC and ALM tools such as Teamcity,
Git/Stash, Jira, and Confluence

·         Proven ability to create and modify Linux shell scripts

·         Proven understanding of security and administration best practices

·         Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position
with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

·         Experience with DataSTax Cassandra databases technologies is
required.

·         Experience in operating distributed database applications is
required.

·         Experience with Spring framework is a plus

·         Experience with Linux scripting is required

·         Data modelling experience is a plus

·         Retail experience is a plus

·         Comfortable working with Agile environment.

·         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work
experience

·         Experience with Tomcat is a plus, but not required

·         Experience with Apache  and/or DataSTax Cassandra and other NoSQL
databases technologies is a plus, but not required

·         Experience with Git/Stash is a plus




Desired Previous Job Experience

·         Bachelor degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an
Information Systems position.

·         2+ years of Datastax Cassandra support including not limited to
web applications, client server, middle tier etc.
