AIX Admin

Location: Atlanta, GA

Duration: 6+ Months



Required skills:

·         Expert in design, implementation & administration of HA solutions
like VERITAS Cluster Services, IBM Power HA etc.

·         preferably Symantec Certified Professional for VERITAS Cluster
Administration ·

·         Expert in designing & administering VERITAS Storage Foundation
and VERITAS NetBackup 5.1 ·

·         Experienced in VERITAS Volume Manager Administration VxVm, CFS,
GPFS ·

·         Install, configure, and administer AIX v5.3/6.1/7.1 on IBM P5 &
P7 series servers ·

·         Design and manage disk space using AIX Logical Volume management ·

·         Create and modify file systems, Logical Volume, Physical Volumes,
Volume Group ·

·         Export and import non root volume groups across servers ·

·         User and File system management and administration ·

·         Install the OS patches and update the ML levels as per the
requirements ·

·         Backup and restore of mksysb from NIM server ·

·         Use performance monitoring tools like topas, iostat, vmstat,
netstat etc ·

·         Set up NFS servers, export shares to clients and perform NFS
mounts ·

·         Diagnose hardware issues such as disks and other hot swappable
devices and replace if faulty ·

·         Direct the operating system installation, configuration and
migration of numerous AIX systems to new hardware that increase the
capability and complexity of the environment ·

·         Expertise on NFS and NIM administration and installation ·

·         Create VIO server with Dual VIO server Environment with SEA
configuration ·

·         LPAR/DLPAR/WPAR Administration, creation and deletion of
LPAR/WPAR ·

·         Dynamic Allocation and De-allocation of Hardware resources ·

·         Build LPAR, DLPAR machines on Managed servers.

·         Add managed servers to HMC, HMC administration, create and modify
partition profiles, perform operations on LPAR machines ·



HMC Powering managed systems –

·         Start, stop, and reset logical partitions. Detect, report, and
store changes in hardware conditions ·

·         HMC version and patch upgrade ·

·         VIO administration and configuration ·

·         Shell scripting ·

·         Python/Perl scripting would be added advantage. ·

·         Enterprise server management experience. ·

·         Deep knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best
practices for a large server environment. ·

·         Provide the root cause analysis on the major incidents/problem



Secondary skills: · Linux server build and administration, RHEL 6 etc.,
extensive hands-on experience on VERITAS volume and cluster management.
CFS, NFS file systems etc.
