*Specialist IS Prog Analyst – Big Data Architect* *Category:** Information Systems* *Job ID:** R-28500* *Location: **US – California – Thousand Oaks H* *Duration 12months plus.* The Specialist IS Prog Analyst – Big Data Engineer position will be responsible for implementing and managing applications and platforms to support Amgen’s Big Data strategy and roadmap. This role will be part of the Analytics and Knowledge Management (AKM) group and is based at Amgen’s corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. We are seeking a Big Data Engineer to lead our fast-changing technology landscape of Big Data analytics with the complex and high-impact space of pharmaceutical analytics. Responsibilities: Define Big Data platform architectures and technical road maps that align with the Big Data strategy Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects implementing Big Data technologies using Agile/DevOps development processes. Overall management of the enterprise Hadoop and associated environments to ensure the service delivery is cost effective and business SLAs around uptime, performance and capacity are met. Research and evaluate technical solutions including various Hadoop distributions, NoSQL databases, data integration and analytical tools with a focus on enterprise deployment capabilities like security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, etc Advice and support project teams (project managers, architects, business analysts, and developers) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of Big Data solutions. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree AND 3 years of Information Technology and/or Software Programming OR Bachelor’s degree AND 5 years of Information Technology and/or Software Programming OR Associate’s degree AND 10 years of Information Technology and/or Software Programming OR High school diploma / GED AND 12 years of Information Technology and/or Software Programming Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of experience working on Big Data technologies with 2 years + managing an enterprise scale Hadoop environment. Experience implementing Big Data solutions based on Hadoop tools like Hive, Spark, Kafka, HDFS and MapReduce in a live production environment Strong background in data modeling, object oriented programming and/or functional programming and experience on RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.) Significant programming experience in multiple languages like Python, Java, Ruby, C#, etc. Experience working with various IT development techniques like Agile and DevOps Combined qualities of a technical architect with programming background, a strong system administrator, an enthusiastic inventor, a careful analyst, and a knowledgeable engineer.
