*Skills Required and Job Description:*
The consultant will be responsible for assisting with multiple projects
within the converged and FEHC infrastructure environment. The consultant
should be familiar with the technologies and products being
upgraded/installed/migrated and a brief overview of their ongoing projects
is provided below.
Responsibilities:
- Contacting, coordinating, and scheduling with stakeholders and
performing the following:
- Migration of VMs from old to new environments (including HP to UCS
and VMAX to XIO Storage)
- Importing migrated VMs into EHC (vRA)
- Configuring vSphere Cluster Alarms/Alerts
- Performing VMware 6 Tools Upgrade on Windows 2008 and 2012 R2
servers
- Performing VMware 6 Hardware version Upgrade or clean installations
- Assigning VMs in new environment to new Backup schedules
- Installing / Re-Installing / Troubleshooting /Re-registering
Hyperic Agents
- Updating and tuning vROPs Dashboards/Alerts
- Upgrading and verifying SRM Recovery Plans Some other migration
duties may be assigned, but this covers the major technical components.
Required Skills:
- The candidates will require strong communications (oral and written)
skills
- Proven experience working with VMware and Windows Servers in cloud
environments, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage notification of stakeholders, grasp technical
concepts and deployment plans, and be able to perform work assigned without
being watched at all times.
- Ability to complete off hours work for completion during the normal
change window.
- Experience with VMware vSphere 6 administration through vCenter
- Ability to assess VMware environment and plan/strategize system
configuration
- Experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012
administration
- VMware P2V, V2V, P2C and V2C migration experience
- Experience with vROPs management and tuning
- Experience with vRA administration
