Drives new development projects to successful completion across the full software development life cycle. Emphasizes creativity and pragmatism in a fast moving environment.* *JOB DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Develop quality, robust software that fully meets provided software requirements and adheres to Client's development policies. Design and implement object oriented applications that correctly implement requirements through effective coding practices. Mentor Client's current development staff as they make the transition from Progress 4GL to Java. Diagram application designs using UML. Develop and design solid, normalized relational database schemas. Suggest improvements regarding software currently in use at Client's Place. Constantly seek improvement where it makes sense to do so. Interface with internal and external customers to gain an understanding of their software needs. Assist in development of Client's current software products, including the Majic ERP and custom in-house web applications. Develop pragmatic software solutions to complex business problems. Assist users in understanding proper operation of Client's software products. Comply with Client's software development methodologies and processes. Assist in database or system administration when necessary. Provide management feedback in a timely manner and maintain a weekly operations report indicating program project status and results of the previous week's programming efforts. Assist in administration of development and production systems. Any other duties assigned from the Manager of IT Software Development that are not noted here. Mentor junior and intermediate level software developers.* *MINIMUM Qualifications: Minimum 2 year Linux and/or UNIX experience. Minimum 4 years database analysis and design experience. Minimum 4 years experience with an RDBMS. Experience with J2EE technologies. Minimum 3 years experience designing and developing web applications. Minimum 5 years general programming experience. Minimum 5 year experience in three or more of the following languages: C, C++, Progress 4GL, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Shell Scripting, SQL. Minimum 4 years educational or professional experience with Java (sample applications are required with full source code).* *PREFERRED: 2 year experience with Hibernate preferred. PostgreSQL is preferred. Experience designing and implementing object oriented applications with UML and Java. Experience with a version control system. Subversion is a plus. Demonstrated problem solving ability. Business experience - knowledge of what activities comprise and maintain systems in a transaction environment.
